Anne Frank Project...

Our English class has recently finished reading The Diary of Anne Frank.  To show all that we have learned during this time, our teacher gave us a project to do; we were aloud to do anything we wanted. The hardest thing for me while reading The Diary of Anne Frank was imagining the setup of the Secret Annexe. So I researched for almost two hours and found the perfect website(www.annefrank.org). I drew up some plans, had my partner come over, and BOOM!!!! It looked amazing by the time we had finished.

When I presented my project to the class, everyone thought it was awesome. Others did little plays or small Gemini projects. I am not just saying this, but my project was definitely the best!

My 8th grade Science Fair Project

I wanted to come up with a really ORIGINAL science project this year(because we all know how much I like to be original!!!) So I searched online for projects, wrote down all the projects, and consulted which to choose with my partner.
We picked a project that seemed as original as my last project(I talked to rice to see if there was a difference in the mold growth). We picked...
"Does eye color affect peripheral vision? Supposedly people with darker eyes tend to have wider pupils for a given amount of light than people with light-colored irises. If you have a more-open pupil, does it give you measurably better peripheral vision? Another idea to test would be to see if you have the same peripheral vision in bright light as compared with dim light."
     TWO WEEKS LATER...
We turned in our project and our report. We got second place in the eighth grade.

April Fools Day

Maddie pulled a prank on us. It worked on half, the other half was either too observant, or too smart. When Maddie got home, she run right upstairs. Taya called Maddie down about twenty minutes later. When Maddie came down, she put her head on the counter and covered her face. When Taya told her to lift her head. She lifted it, but had a black eye. Taya freaked out, but realized it was fake. When I got home, I had the same reaction. Taya sent a picture to Maddie's dad and Dad. Maddie's dad was ready to get in the car, come over here, and 'bust a few heads.' Dad didn't react because he said it was 'too dark for being the first day.' Daron didn't react because he saw Maddie when she was on her way home; she had no black eye. When we were at the hair salon, all the salonists freaked out when they saw Maddie.

My New Hair Cut

I have been working for 2 and a half years, keeping my hair as strong and healthy as possible so that I could donate it to someone who needed it more than me. At the end of February, I started to get really excited about the concept of finally being able to donate it. At one point, I was measuring  my hair one a week to see if it had gotten any longer. So I pestered and pestered and pestered Taya to get me a hair appointment. Finally my hair filled all the requirements.

  • Hair that is colored or permed is acceptable.
  • Hair cut years ago is usable if it has been stored in a ponytail or braid.
  • Hair that has been bleached (usually this refers to highlighted hair) is not usable.  If unsure, ask your stylist. We are not able to accept bleached hair due to a chemical reaction that occurs during the manufacturing process. **If the hair was bleached years ago and has completely grown out it is fine to donate.
  • Hair that is swept off of the floor is not usable because it is not bundled in a ponytail or braid.
  • Hair that is shaved off and not in a ponytail or braid is not usable. If shaving your head, first divide hair into multiple ponytails to cut off.
  • We cannot accept dreadlocks. Our manufacturer is not able to use them in our children’s hairpieces. We also cannot accept wigs, falls, hair extensions or synthetic hair.
  • Layered hair is acceptable if the longest layer is 10 inches.
  • Layered hair may be divided into multiple ponytails.
  • Curly hair may be pulled straight to measure the minimum 10 inches.
  • 10 inches measured tip to tip is the minimum length needed for a hairpiece.
April 1st, Taya took Maddie and I to 'Heather Rae's', an awesome salon down the road. At 4:45pm, I had 11 inches cut off of my hair. One week later, Taya filled out the necessary forms and we sent in my hair. It felt so good to do something like this for someone I didn't even know. It makes all the work involved worth while. I will be donating my hair every chance I get. This is definitely something worth doing if you can.  I strongly encourage this; If you are thinking about doing it, do it. The feeling that you get makes up for anything that anyone might say or think.

Heart Day

Valentines Day this year was like every day, but, like every V-day, we were greeted by a small bag of candy and a not-so-secret-admirer note.

Because I'm in that kind of mood, I am going to express my love to all of you. I really do care a lot about all my friends and family, though I might not show it all the time. I am so grateful that I have such loving parents, that care for me, love me, and teach me all I will need to know to be successful. I would also like to express my love and thanks to all my friends and extended family. You are all great influences on me, and I love to know that you are all there for me, whenever I need help!!!

I love you all so very much!!!!!

Basketball

I tried out for and made the basketball team. Everyone was extremely excited when they saw me going to the try-outs. I liked the practices for about 2 weeks, but once I started getting migraines the third week, I could barely get up in the morning, I quit. I also quit because I, at that point, didn't enjoy playing. Why do something if you don't enjoy it. I say that if you want something, go for it; But if you don't enjoy it, try something else!!!

Tennis

I joined the tennis team this winter. I really wanted to try something new and then the school announced that they were adding tennis to the list of sports that they chose to compete in. I had a lot of fun, but because of the court that they constantly placed me in, we didn't get any pictures :( Our school team made it to the tournament. Every team made it to the second of the three rounds, but we all lost the second round.

Dad's Birthday

Dad turned 36 on January 18, 2011. From what he said, he had a great birthday.

We love you so much, and thank you for being such a great father, influence, and motivation all these years!!!

New Years Eve...

New Years was really fun this year. Rather than having a party, we got together with some family and friends.
